Stella Maris School, 11th October 2013
World Egg Day 2013 was celebrated in Belize by serving an egg breakfast to school children of the Stella Maris School in Belize City. The Food Safety Department of BAHA and the Belize Poultry Association (BPA) prepared a hearty breakfast for the students and staff of Stella Maris School. Breakfast featured Creole Egg Wrap - eggs scrambled with cheese and ham and served with fried beans; all cooked in coconut oil and wrapped on a hot flour tortilla. Breakfast also included sausages, milk, juice and bananas.
The School opened its cafeteria at 6:30 am to receive the BAHA crew who started cooking preparation and got right down to cooking for the children. Some cracked the eggs; others cut the cheese and ham. Some cooked the eggs; others cooked the beans. Some mixed the juice; others kept the kitchen clean. And all helped serve the Creole Egg Wrap. The students full of smiles enjoyed the breakfast, some even enjoying a second helping! Two students thanked BAHA and BPA on behalf of the school.
World Egg Day is celebrated every year on the second Friday of October. Eggs are well known for their nutritive properties so celebrating World Egg Day by providing an egg breakfast to the students of Stella Maris School, the largest special education school in Belize, is a great way to spread the good news of the wonderful nutritive properties of the egg. The eggs were donated by Caribbean Chicken and Country Foods, the two largest egg companies in Belize.
